The new Apple award series for looks a lot like earlier Apple watches it has the same rectangle form the digital crown and one button below it but just turn on the screen and you witness a brand new experience as Apple has trimmed the bezels having more than 30% of extra screen space and this makes big difference it has also completely rearranged the components inside the watch.
So we get louder sound for calls in Siri and best of all these new watches very fast but let's not get ahead of ourselves I've been using the power series for a day and night it's work in the office at the gym I’ve played basketball and slept with it how do you do and should you spend all that cash that Apple is asking for its latest Smartwatch let's find out first though let's address battery life since many of you would be wondering whether you can even get through one day with this watch without topping it up the answer is yes you can the series 4 goals beyond expectations and you can expect.
It to last somewhere between 36 and 48hours for most people which would be a full two days of the charger and my experience with the watch starting the day at around 7:30 a.m. and going to bed at around 11 the battery meter stood at an average of more than55 percent at the end of the day and that’s with a couple of workouts and testing of various watch features if you want to ensure you get the maximum battery life we recommend using wash cases with a dark background and turning the screen brightness to the minimum level in the watch app on your phone.
It's still plenty bright while for many people the Apple watch is a great daily companion for notifications and calls and just for style for many others it’s true value lies in activity and health tracking our tests have shown that heart rate monitoring of the Apple watch is very accurate and you get more consistent readings with fewer errors than before and readings happen very fast there is something else tractrices us about the Apple watch its comfort the buttons are clicked and every turn of the digital crown now comes with slide.
But very nice haptic feebate velvety smooth sports band is durable and the rounded body of the watch is also very comfortable and we never felt much of an inconvenience working out with it there are two new workout types in the series for yoga and hiking but of course you can select the other type of workout to track pretty much anything speaking of workouts watch OS 5 also ads for the first time automatic workout detection it worked for us when it came to a brisk walk and it retroactively accounts for the full workout time.
But it didn't detect a half an hour cycling workout nor did it detect the 15 minutes strength training session unfortunately this makes automatic detection pretty useless in our experience and we still had to manually start our workouts every time once you have them fit bits other wearables are things like heart rate zones this gives important nuance to heart rate tracking but the Apple watch doesn't record these zones undesirous get a third-party app there is one key new feature of the Apple watch series for that we couldn't test and as the EKG or electrocardiogram.
Apple will push an update to enable the feature later this year and to only be available in the United States another new feature in the watch is false detection which is just what it sounds like the Apple watch can tell when you take a hard fall and will pop up a screen offering you to call emergency we tried the sieving the what by intentionally trying to fall.
But the watch wasn't fully there are also few new watch faces in this series for the new infographic watch face has up to 8 different complications this is great for getting quick information to single glance and the new corner complications videos with dope there’s also the infographic modular watch face with a large complication right in the middle it provides a ton of information and these two become our most used watch faces in the series forte demonstrate the bigger screen Apple includes three other watch faces the vapor fire and water and liquid metal where every time you flick your wrist to see the time you see an explosion of colors that looks really impressive.
Apple still doesn't allow third-party watch faces in case you wondered but that might be a good thing considering the amount of bad watch faces that we have seen another smartwatch one of the big architectural changes for the series for Watch is that it now has its loudspeaker on the left side while the microphone is on the right so you gutless echo and calls the new speaker is also 50% louder which makes a big difference for calls and Siri you can now also listen to podcasts for the first time on an Apple watch and just like with music and radio you need to have Bluetooth headphones for this to work the other new feature here is walkie-talkie it comes with watch OS 5 4 all watches except the very first generation you and your contact have to approve this first and then it works as expected but you have to hold the button while you talked wrapping things up.
Let's stock pricing the aluminum series for models without cellular starts at 400 dollars while the cellular version goes for 50and if you opt-in for the stainless to option prices there started a whopping $700 that's more than the price of a great smartphone time has shown that the Apple watch like all electronics though will age in a few years and this is not a classic watch that fathers pass to their kids from generation to generation.
So maybe it's wiser to go for the sports aluminum model rather than the more expensive versions finally when you draw the line the Apple watch series 4 clearly rises above other smartwatches it’s comfortable it's very fast it has impressive screen rock-solid battery life accurate heart tracking and not least it has Apple's commitment and future updates guarantee and while it’s not quite the perfect fitness tracker it’s a damn good one is it worth $400.
